Renninger Wins Sixth NEC Rookie of the Week Award

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – FDU freshman point guard Ava Renninger was awarded the NEC/Atlantic Tomorrow's Office Rookie of the Week award from the Northeast Conference on Wednesday morning. It marks the sixth time this season that Renninger has taken home the honor.

Renninger brings home her NEC-best sixth ROTW award following a two-game stretch in which she averaged 16.0 PPG, 5.0 RPG, and 3.0 APG for the Knights. The Yardley, PA native led FDU in scoring in both of their wins over the past week, helping them move to a program-record 15-3 to start the season.

Renninger dropped 17 points on Saturday, January 18 against Central Connecticut State. On a game broadcast on the YES Network, the freshman showed out, leading the way to a dominant 75-58 win for the Knights.

She followed up that performance just two days later with a game-high 15 points against Chicago State. Renninger hit game-sealing free throws late to help FDU pick up a 49-43 victory over the Cougars. To make things even sweeter, she out-dueled her top competition for NEC Rookie of the Year in Chicago State's Aiyanna Culver.

Through the first 18 games for the Knights, Renninger leads FDU in scoring with a mark of 13.4 PPG.

Renninger and the Knights will look to continue their dominant season this coming week, then they head to Stonehill to face the NEC's number two team in the standings.
