Bejarano’s First Collegiate Goal Boosts Knights to Victory

New York, N.Y. – The FDU Knights (4-2-3, 0-0) took on the Columbia Lions (0-6, 0-0) resulting in a 1-0 victory for the Burgundy and Blue.

Coming off the bench in the 40th minute, freshman Jack Bejarano scored his first collegiate goal two minutes into his time on the field. Eric Dlabal was credited with the assist on the rookie's game winner over the Ivy League opponent.

This is the first win over an Ivy League opponent for the Burgundy and Blue since 2017 against Yale.

The Knights out-shot the Lions 9-5 with six shots on goal in the contest.

This marked graduate student goalkeeper Spencer King's fourth shutout of the season.

"Super proud of our guys tonight," said head coach Jaymee Highcock. "To get a win against an Ivy school is a huge achievement, and something that we haven't done in a long time. The guys dug in well and deserved to get a 1-0 victory tonight. We experimented with a few things with lineups, formations, and personnel. The whole squad put in a real good shift tonight. We are looking forward to hopefully come away with a win on Thursday and taking this momentum into conference play."
