Despite the high energy from the Knights offense, Villanova found an equalizer in the 86th minute.
The Burgundy and Blue netted goals in both of their shots on net, while Villanova totaled nine shots on goal in the match.
Spencer King finished the night with seven saves, one of which was within the final ten seconds to preserve the draw.
"Tonight was a learning experience for our guys," said head coach
Jaymee Highcock. "We are disappointed to not have come away with the victory after leading the game with only three minutes left. However, on reflection we can take some positives from the tied result against a Big East opponent. We will get back onto the training field and make sure things are addressed for Tuesday evenings game against Drexel."
