PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The FDU Knights (3-1-2, 0-0) took on the Brown Bears (1-1-1, 0-0) resulting in a scoreless draw.
The Burgundy and Blue and the Bears kept the match level with eight shots each through the entirety of the game. Brown had possession for 68% of tonight's match, but the Knights shape kept scoring chances low for the Bears despite a lack of possession.
FDU had two notable chances to score from
Alex Kryazhev and
Matt Giraldo. Kryazhev's opportunity spurred from a free kick right outside the box and was deflected in the 77'. Giraldo's shot came soon after in the 78' from in the box.
"Tonight, was a very solid performance from our guys," said head coach
Jaymee Highcock. "Our defensive shape was very good, and we limited a very good Brown team to only a few chances. The longer the game went on, we imposed our attacking play and I feel towards the end that we did enough to win the game. However, after four long tough away games, we can overall be really happy with the way we are performing. Villanova is an exciting challenge for us on Saturday and we will be doing everything possible to get a big win."
The Knights will return to the pitch on Saturday, September 14 when they face Villanova at home at University Stadium in Teaneck, N.J. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m. and you can stream all the action on NEC Front Row.
