Knights' Battle at Navy Results in Scoreless Draw

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The FDU Knights (2-0-1, 0-0) took on the Navy Midshipmen (0-1-2, 0-0) resulting in a match that ended in scoreless draw.

In the first half, the Knights were out-shot by Navy 9-4. FDU's best chance was a penalty shot in the 16th minute that was saved by the Navy goalkeeper.

Spencer King had a solid start in goal tallying five saves in the first half for the Knights.

Despite opportunities on both sides of the field, the game remained scoreless going into the half.

FDU came out firing in the second half where they out-shot Navy 6-1. Four of those shots were on target, but none could find the back of the net for the Knights.

King came way from today's match with his 21st shutout of his career and his first of the season.

"Tonight was a great effort from our guys and we were really unlucky to not win the game," said head coach Jaymee Highcock. "We battled well in the first half and showed some good character to adjust to the Navy style of soccer. We changed our press in the second half, and we started to regain the ball in dangerous areas. [In the second half] we played with a higher intensity and created some really good chances to win the game. We were really unlucky to not win the game at the end."
