EUGENE, OR. – Underneath the Friday night lights of Hayward Field, FDU's
Salif Mane etched his name in history and became a National Champion.
The seven time All-American captured the 2024 NCAA Triple Jump National Championship with a career-best 17.14m mark on his first attempt of the evening. This marks the longest jump in the country for the 2024 outdoor season and currently ranks ninth in the entire world.
Mane's initial 17.14m mark would prove to hold up for the remainder of the competition but it was not without being tested down to a quarter of an inch.
Miami's Russell Robinson nearly topped the FDU senior with a 17.13m mark on his fifth attempt but he could not dethrone the perennial All-American.
This championship performance follows a second-place finish for Mane at the NCAA East Regionals back on May 25 in Lexington, KY.
Mane leaves FDU as the most-decorated athlete in school history. With tonight's result, he solidified his status as a four-time First Team All-American in the triple jump. He adds this to a storied career that already consisted of six All-American appearances and 13 NEC Championships. Per the NEC, his now seven All-American distinctions are tied with LIU's Brendon Rodney for most in league history.
And now,
Salif Mane is a National Champion.
