STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Knights were only able to muster four hits in a 4-2 loss at Wagner on Friday afternoon. The defeat snaps a nine-game winning streak for FDU.
Chris Mattioli got the nod on the mound and gave FDU 3.1 innings of work. He left the game after scattering six hits and allowing three earned runs. Relieving Mattioli was
Joey Kosowsky who went 3.2 innings and kept the Knights in the game by only allowing one run.
FDU was held to just one hit through the first four innings, but the bats came to life in the fifth.
Brian Sanders launched his ninth homerun of the year for a two-run shot that got the Knights on the board. This bomb cut the Wagner lead to 3-2.
The Knights put traffic on the basepaths in three of the last four innings but were unable to scratch across a run. The game ended with the Knights stranding the tying run on first base.

Jeremy Cheeseman, and
TJ Werner were responsible for the Knights other three hits outside of the Sanders homerun.
WHAT'S NEXT
FDU remains in contention for the final spot in the NEC Championship with the last game of the season set for tomorrow. The Knights will need either a win or a Central Connecticut loss to clinch their spot. The rubber match between FDU and Wagner is set for a 12 p.m. first pitch.
