UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The FDU Knights (12-17, 9-5) faced the Penn State Nittany Lions (17-12, 4-5) in a midweek matchup that resulted in a 12-2 loss for the Knights.
The Nittany Lions got on the board first with a four run first inning to take an early 4-0 lead over the Knights. Penn State tacked on two more runs in the second inning to extend their lead to 6-0.
The Knights got on the board in the third inning by a sacrifice fly off the bat of
Hunter D'Amato to score
Joan Sosa. FDU still trailed Penn State 6-1.
The Nittany Lions didn't let up as they tacked on another run in the fourth inning bringing the score to 7-1.
D'Amato logged career hit number 224 with a single through the left side to score
Ben Avila to bring the score to 7-2 in the top of the fifth inning.
Despite FDU's efforts to close in on the Nittany Lions, Penn State relentlessly tacked on runs through the eighth inning to sew up a 12-2 loss for the Knights.
Nicholas Feretic started the game on the mound for FDU and pitched 2 innings before handing the ball over to the bullpen to finish the game. We saw Jake SImon
, Ben Pika and Dante Edwardi make relief appearances pitching the final five innings.
The Knights picked up four hits and six walks in today's game.
