Knights Take Big Win in the Bronx Against Fordham, 6-4

BRONX, N.Y. - The FDU Knights (15-23, 10-10) took on the Fordham Rams (16-23, 7-5) in a midweek matchup that resulted in a 6-4 win for the Knights. Ther Knights broke a seven-game road  losing streak with today's victory.

Nicholas Feretic pitched an impressive five innings for the Knights where faced 23 batters and only allowed one run in today's outing. The junior was dominant on the bump striking out nine and only issuing two walks.

The Knights got on the board first in the first inning with one run. Luke Russo led off the game with a single down the right field line and stole second base. Russo moved around to third and eventually would score on a wild pitch to give the Knights a 1-0 lead.

An electric third inning was home to the rest of FDU's six runs of the day. Russo led off the inning drawing a walk and was moved to second off a single through the right side from Hunter D'Amato. Both runners advanced a base each with a single up the middle from Justin Sierra, who now occupied first base as well. With Joey DiMotta drawing a walk in the next at bat, Russo scored the first run of the inning. Joan Sosa hit a sacrifice fly to score D'Amato. With a big at bat from Nate Dudeck who doubled to left field, Sierra scored for the Knights. Ben Avila delivered a massive bases clearing single up the middle to plate the last two runners of the inning, giving the Knights a 6-0 lead in the third.

Fordham scored one run in the fifth inning off a single to left field. Despite a late rally in the ninth inning from the Rams, the Knights closed out a 6-4 road victory.

Brian Yadlon, Jake Simon, Jason Diaz and Joey Kosowsky made relief appearances pitching the final four innings. 
 
The Knights managed to pick up 11 hits and four walks in today's game. D'Amato and Avila both picked up multi-hit games with three hits each. Russo, Sierra, Joey DiMottaNate Dudeck and Jimmy Mantuano all recorded one hit each.

With Mantuano's single to right field, he has officially logged his first collegiate hit.
 
UP NEXT
The Knights will return to action on Friday, April 26 to face the Merrimack Warriors in North Andover, Massachusetts. The game will be played at Greater Lawrence Technical School. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
