TEANECK, N.J. - The FDU Knights (14-23, 10-10) closed the three-game series against the Central Connecticut Blue Devils (11-19, 10-11) with an 11-5 loss. Despite the Knights totaling three homeruns, they could not secure the win.
Graduate student
Zac Capps started the day on the mound for FDU pitching a total of five innings putting seven batters away via strikeout.
The Knights put up four runs off of three homeruns.
Jeremy Cheeseman and
Justin Sierra blasted solo shots over the fence while
Joan Sosa launched his first homerun of the season with a runner on the basepaths to tally four of the five FDU runs. The Burgundy and Blue plated one more run in the ninth inning off the bat of Sierra to cap off the 11-5 loss.
Central Connecticut also utilized the long ball with two Blue Devils going yard in the game to account for four of Central Connecticut's runs for the day.
FDU pitching staff couldn't find a rhythm today as they utilized three arms out of the bullpen:
Ian Barrett,
Vladimir Ceverino and
Jeremy Cheeseman, in addition to Capps who got the start. The staff issued four walks but contact hurt them with 14 hits, nine of which were off relievers.
The Knights managed to pick up nine hits and six walks in today's game.
Hunter D'Amato, Cheeseman and Sierra picked up multi-hit games with two hits each.
Joey DiMotta,
Nick Quagliato, and Sosa all recorded one hit each.
