WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – Women's tennis continued their run in the NEC Championships earlier today with a semifinal match against #1 Sacred Heart. The Knights started down early after losing two doubles matches to begin the day 0-1. The story was all singles as the Burgundy and Blue held strong in four matches to clinch the victory 4-2. Junior
Namie Isago was the first to finish her match, defeating Olivia Kharkover 6-3, 6-2 to get a point for the Knights and tie the score 1-1. Freshman
Katsiaryna Kostsina took an easy 6-3, 6-1 win from Aina Garriga to give FDU a 2-1 lead before
Anastasia Lim came up big with a #2 win against Vitalina Golod. The Knights only needed one more match win to clinch the victory and it came courtesy of Graduate Student
Mireia Turro who defeated Flavia Rambaldi 6-3, 6-2.
FDU will play in the NEC Championship round tomorrow (04/13) against #2 LIU for a chance to take the title for the first time since 2016. This will be the fifth meeting between the Knights and LIU in the NEC Championship match, with LIU having won four of those matches. First serve is set for 10 a.m. at the Mercer County Tennis Center.
