Box Score WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – Women's tennis competed in the NEC Championship for the second time in three years earlier today, meeting #2 LIU. The Knights found themselves down early after losing the doubles point to a strong Sharks team. Already down 0-1, freshman Katsiaryna Kostsina lost her match 6-0, 6-1 to give LIU a strong 2-0 lead. Sophomore Anastasia Lim couldn't find her footing against Saki Oyama and dropped her match 6-3, 6-3. Down 0-3 the Knights were able to bounce back after two important wins by graduate student Mireia Turro and junior Namie Isago. Turro defeated Lucy Garrigues 6-2, 6-2 while Isago took down Jasime Maduel 6-4, 6-3. The match came down to graduate student Alena Kubanova who despite a strong 6-0 second set victory was not able to defeat the reigning NEC Player of the Year Leo Boisseau. The Knights fell to LIU 2-4 to take a second-place finish in the tournament. Mireia Turro and Namie Isago were both named to the All-Tournament Team for their efforts this weekend.
