TEANECK, N.J. – The FDU Knights (8-14, 5-3) and the Siena Saints (2-19, 0-0) faced off in a midweek matchup resulting in a 9-7 loss for the Knights.
With a double to center field, senior
Hunter D'Amato recorded career hit number 213 to make him the sole owner of the four spot in most career hits in FDU history.
The Knights got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead.
Justin Sierra landed on base with a double to center field where he was able to move to third on a wild pitch. D'Amato's double to center field plated Sierra and was brought in to score off a single off the bat of
Franklin Gomez Jr. to take the 2-0 lead.
Sierra continued the big day on the basepath when he was put on due to a walk in the third inning. The graduate student stole second and third to be scored by a sacrifice fly from D'Amato to take a 3-0 lead.
The Saints were able to tie it up in the top of the fourth as a result of two homeruns. Tyler Figueroa started the scoring off with a two-run home run and was followed by a solo home run from Kobe Stenson to tie the game 3-3.

Nick Quagliato drawing a walk,
Nate Dudeck saw opportunity knock and he answered the call. Dudeck with a blast to left center cleared the bases for a two-run double, his first collegiate hit. Dudeck flew around the bases as
Joan Sosa made soft contact with a ball to the pitcher. With a handling error at first, Sosa was safe and Dudeck scored on the play to extend the Knights lead 6-3.
Siena answered in the sixth inning with a three-run home run to knot the game at 6-6.
With no scoring through the ninth inning, the game went to extra innings. In the top of the tenth, Two more home runs from Siena plagued the Knights as the Saints took a 9-6 lead. FDU only came up with one run as a result of a single to right field by Quagliato scoring
Joey DiMotta. The Knights fell to Siena by a score of 9-7.
Nick Feretic got the start today on the mound where he pitched four innings facing 18 batters and retired three of them by strikeout. We saw
Jeremy Cheeseman,
Brian Yadlon,
Ben Pika and
Chris Mattioli make relief appearances. The pitching staff totaled 11 strikeouts but gave up nine runs from five home runs.
The Knights managed to pick up seven hits and nine walks in today's game. Sierra, D'Amato, DiMotta, Gomez Jr., Will, Quagliato and Dudeck all recorded one hit each.

The Knights will return to action at home on Thursday, March 28 to face Maryland Eastern Shore at Naimoli Family Baseball Complex. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
