HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The Knights (2-12, 1-3) hit the road to take on the Hofstra Pride (5-9, 0-0) in a midweek matchup that resulted in a 3-1 loss.
The Knights kept the game even with Hofstra knotted at 0-0 going into the fourth inning.
The Pride found opportunity to score with an infield dribbler to third base resulting in an out at second and the first run of the game. In the seventh inning, Hofstra found an opening in left field that plated one and an immediate sacrifice fly to right field to tack on their second run of the inning.
With a leadoff walk in the eighth inning, the Knights were able to capitalize on smart base running getting him into scoring position. D'Amato stole second and immediately after, stole third.
Justin Sierra found himself on base with a walk of his own and advanced himself to second base.
Brian Sanders was able to drive in D'Amato from third with a slow roller down the third base line to get the RBI. Despite having Sierra on third, the Knights couldn't bring him home leaving him stranded to end the inning.
