SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Knights opened their three-game series at Wofford with a 14-1 loss to the Terriers. FDU drops to 1-4 overall with this loss.
In today's game against Wofford, FDU started the first strong and coming away unscathed. In the bottom of the second, Wofford was able to strike first and put up two runs taking a 2-0 lead. The Terriers started off the third with a single that was immediately answered by the Knights with a double play.
TJ Werner threw to
Joan Sosa to get the runner at second and turned to
Brian Sanders at first to get the second out in time.
The Knights offense continued to be quiet but found opportunity to score in the seventh inning off a sacrifice fly to left field by freshman
Nick Quagliato. Sadly, FDU couldn't find an answer to the Wofford offense ultimately falling by a score of 14-1.
The Knights managed to pick up six hits from
Justin Sierra,
Brelon Harden, Sosa and Sanders. Freshman
Joey DiMotta also picked up his first collegiate hit with a ball through the right side.
Patrick Gardner and
Ben Pika came in out of the bullpen for a combined 4.2 innings. Pika faced 16 batters striking out five of them.

The Knights return to action on Saturday, February 24 as they will continue their three-game series at Wofford with game two. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
