SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The Knights closed their four-game series at San Francisco with a 6-3 loss to the Dons. FDU drops to 1-3 overall with today's loss.
With a lead-off double by
Joan Sosa, the Knights were able to strike first courtesy of a
Hunter D'Amato single to center field. San Francisco answered in the bottom half of the inning with one of their own to knot the game at 1-1.
The Burgundy and Blue was able to keep the Dons quiet despite the threat to score in the third inning. Pitcher,
Zac Capps was able to close the third stranding three runners on base.
FDU saw trouble in the bottom of the fifth as two runners scored for San Francisco as the Dons were able to take a 3-1 lead which would later be extended to 6-1 as they were able to tack on three more runs late in the game.
The Knights didn't back down as the ninth inning came around.
Jeremy Cheeseman and
Justin Sierra found their way on the bases and took up residence on first and third. Pinch hitter
Nick Quagliato logged his first collegiate hit with a double to center field, clearing the bases bringing two runs in. Despite the Knights ninth inning efforts, they could not come away with a win, ultimately falling to the Dons 6-3.
The Knights managed to pick up eight hits from
Brelon Harden,
TJ Werner, Sosa, D'Amato, Sierra and Quagliato.
Vladimir Ceverino,
Brian Yadlon and
Dante Edwardi came in out of the Bullpen for a combined 3.2 innings, allowing three runs.

The Knights return to action on Friday, February 23 as they hit the road again to face Wofford in Spartanburg, S.C. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
