BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Behind an explosive second quarter, the FDU Knights defeated the LIU Sharks by a score of 59-56. This marks the Knights first road win this season and improves their NEC record to 5-3 and are 7-14 overall.
Despite a struggling offense in the first quarter, the Knights were able to come to life in the second where they shot 8-18 (44.44%) from the floor.
Teneisia Brown and
Lilly Parke accounted for five points each. With the Knights' impressive 20-point period, they were able to obtain their first lead of the game going into the half.
Coming out of the break, FDU didn't take their foot off the gas as they continued their control over the floor outscoring the Sharks 19-10.
Abby Conklin went 3-3 in the quarter where she hit two shots from deep. All nine points collected by Conklin in the period were a result of a solo 9-0 run.
Despite being outscored by LIU 19-12 in the final quarter, the Knights held on in the last seconds of the game with a triple from
Abaigeal Babore to secure a 59-56 victory over the Sharks.
The Knights had four scorers in double-figures in tonight's contest:
Lilly Parke (13),
Teneisia Brown (12),
Abby Conklin (12) and
Abaigeal Babore (10).
FDU shot 35.4% from the floor and landed 30% from beyond the arc. Despite being outrebounded by LIU 43-34, the Knights found steady production from their offense to tie together an exciting road victory.
