BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – The Northeast Conference announced Monday their weekly honors for the week of December 2. FDU swept the honors for the third time this season, with graduate student
Teneisia Brown taking home the NEC/Atlantic Tomorrow's Office Player of the Week award, and freshman
Ava Renninger taking home the NEC/Atlantic Tomorrow's Office Rookie of the Week Award.
It marks the second time this season that Brown has won Player of the Week honors, and the fourth time this season that Renninger has won Rookie of the Week. It's the second time that the two have won the awards in the same week, including the first week of the season.
Brown picks up the Player of the Week award following a dominant week leading the Knights, recording a double-double in back-to-back games Brown averaged 17.0 PPG, and 10.0 RPG across a week that saw FDU go 2-0 in non-conference play.
Brown started her week off with a 15 point, ten rebound performance in FDU's Wednesday road win over Lafayette. She helped secure the 69-62 victory late in regulation, converting an impressive three-point play with 30 seconds left to put the bow on a Knights victory.
After her performance against Lafayette, Brown dominated in FDU's Sunday afternoon victory on the road against Rider. She recorded a team-high 19 points and ten rebounds to engineer a 62-54 victory for the Knights.
Following her impressive week, Brown is averaging 12.0 PPG on the season to rank second on the team, as well as a team-high 9.0 RPG. She has also been the most efficient player on FDU's roster to date, leading the team with a 49.5% field goal percentage.
In the other award category,
Ava Renninger continues her utter dominance across her rookie campaign. Renninger picks up her fourth Rookie of the Week award following a two-game stretch that saw her average 13.5 PPG, 5.5 RPG, and 3.0 APG.
The highlight of the week for Renninger was a team-leading 19-point performance in FDU's road victory over Lafayette on Wednesday. Renninger scored 17 of her 19 points in the second half to help FDU pull away from Lafayette for the victory.
Renninger has now won the NEC/Atlantic Tomorrow's Office Award in every week in which she has played a game. The only instance of another player winning the award game during an off-week for FDU. The accolade adds to an impressive list of accomplishments to start Renninger's career. She has picked up four Rookie of the Week awards, an NEC Player of the Week award, and three NEC Prime Performer appearances. She also ranks 14
th in the nation among all DI freshman with 14.6 PPG on the season.
FDU also picked up a pair of honors in the weekly NEC Prime Performer selections from the conference.
Teneisia Brown was named to the list following her week.
Lilly Parke also received honors, following a week that saw her average 13.0 PPG, and 6.5 RPG for the Knights. Parke also shot 50% from deep during the week, and ranks atop FDU's roster in three-point field goal percentage with 47.2%.
FDU has been dominant in NEC honors this season. In weeks during which FDU has played a game, they have taken home three of the four Player of the Week honors awarded by the conference, as well as four of four Rookie of the Week honors.
The Knights' impressive season to date will continue Wednesday, December 11, when they head to Rutgers to face their third high-major opponent of the year in the Scarlet Knights. Tip-off will be at 7:00 p.m, with coverage available on Big Ten Plus.
