Senior Day Sweetened With Sweep of LIU

HACKENSACK, N.J.  – FDU women's volleyball celebrated seniors with a bang earlier today, as they defeated LIU in straight sets on senior day.

With the energy from senior day celebrations, the Knights took a commanding 4-1 lead to open set one. A fighting LIU squad made a brief comeback, tying the score at 10-10. Two aces from seniors Hannah Schmidt and Jaden Reasor, coupled with five kills from sophomore Avery Bain secured FDU a 25-15 set one victory.

Running with the momentum, FDU kept their consistency going throughout set two. Logging six service aces, four blocks and 11 kills, the Burgundy and Blue stayed competitive despite better offensive action out of LIU. Holding the Sharks to a .093 hitting percentage, FDU cruised to a 25-18 set victory to take a 2-0 match lead.

Offense proved to be key for the Knights, as the Burgundy and Blue logged 14 kills and three aces. Graduate Student Eleonora Tosi shined as she tallied five kills and two blocks to lead the Knights to a 25-24 set and match victory.

The Knights were led by Bain, who logged 14 kills on the match to give her an impressive .429 hitting clip. Senior Emily Van O'Linda led the defensive charge, tallying 17 digs and three aces.
