Jones Drops 15 in Knights Debut; FDU Falls at Miami in Opener

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – FDU could not slow down a sharpshooting Hurricane offense in a season opening 113-72 loss at Miami on Monday night. The Knights fall to 0-1 on the year.

On the offensive end, the Burgundy and Blue were led by Terrence Brown and Dylan Jones. Brown, a 2023 NEC All-Rookie selection, posted 18 points on 8-14 shooting in his season debut. Making his FDU debut was junior Dylan Jones, who fired off 10 three-point field goal attempts and drained five of them. The former junior college product finished with 15 points in his first taste of DI action.

FDU scored the first three points of the game, but Miami immediately responded with a 12-0 run to seize control in the first half. The Knights cut the lead to seven with the next bucket, but never came any closer.

The Hurricanes shot 66.7% from the field and went 14-18 from the line. Lynn Kidd and Nijel Pack combined for 45 points. The Miami bench contributed 39 points to the offensive outbreak.

Jo'el Emanuel put together a solid performance to open his junior campaign. The forward scored 13 points and got to the free throw line seven times. He also grabbed five boards.

A flurry of turnovers hurt FDU in the game's opening stages. They would eventually settle in, but Miami still cashed in 27 points off the Knights' giveaways.
