Ava Renninger Secures Player and Rookie of the Week Honors

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – The Northeast Conference announced their weekly award honors on Monday afternoon. FDU freshman Ava Renninger continued her dominant start to her collegiate career, taking home both the NEC/Atlantic Tomorrow's Office Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week Awards.

Renninger has now won each of the three Rookie of the Week honors awarded by the conference during the 2024-25 season. FDU has taken five of the six honors awarded by the NEC to this point in the season, between Renninger's three ROTW awards, and two Player of the Week Awards (Teneisia Brown, 11/11 and Ava Renninger, 11/25).

Renninger earned her honors following a week that saw her lead FDU with 15.5 PPG. She scored a team-high 19 points in FDU's contest against No. 2 UConn on Wednesday, November 20. Her strong performance turned heads on the road in Storrs, CT. She was also only out-scored by UConn freshman Sarah Strong (20 points) across all players in the contest.

The 19-point performance was the most by any player in the NEC against high-major competition this week.

FDU's star freshman followed up her strong road showing with a 12 point, five rebound, four assist game in the Knights' home victory over Saint Peter's on Saturday, November 23. Renninger also led the team in minutes played over the course of the week. She has taken hold of a premium starting spot for Coach Gaitley.

To this point in the season, Renninger is averaging 14.9 PPG. That mark leads all FDU players. It is also good for fourth in the entirety of the Northeast Conference, and leads all NEC freshmen. That scoring mark is also good for 13th amongst all freshmen in NCAA Division I.

Renninger and the Knights will next be in action on Wednesday, December 4, when they hit the road to face the Lafayette Leopards. Following the long break for the squad, Renninger will look to add to her already impressive list of accomplishments this season.
