Brown's Career Night Lifts FDU Over Manhattan

HACKENSACK, N.J. – Career-highs from Brayden Reynolds and Terrence Brown led a Knights offense that posted 85 points in their return to the Bogota Savings Bank Center on Sunday afternoon. FDU (2-3, 0-0) took down Manhattan (2-2., 0-0) in a thriller by a score of 85-82.

With 1:55 remaining in the contest, the Knights trailed 82-77. Their veteran big men Cameron Tweedy and Jo'el Emanuel then both made savvy moves to the basket to get points on back-to-back possessions. This pair of field goals made the score 82-81. Tweedy scored six points in the final 7:23 of the game.

FDU then got a huge stop with under a minute remaining. Terrence Brown grabbed the rebound, went coast-to-coast and drew a goaltending call on his layup attempt that put the Knights ahead by one with 20 seconds to go. Another Knights' stop, followed by two made free throws, sealed the 85-82 win for FDU.

This game-winning layup was the final stroke on a masterpiece for Terrence Brown. He started the contest with 13 points in the first 5:13 of the game. He would go onto score 15 more en route to a career-high 28 points. He also matched a career-high with four made threes. The sophomore grabbed seven rebounds to complement his tremendous scoring output.

Brown was joined in the "career-high" club by Brayden Reynolds. The junior guard came off the bench and poured in 11 first half points. He finished the game with 15 on 6-7 shooting.

The start of the game was similar to the finish in the sense that it was all Knights. FDU hit 10 of their first 11 attempts from the field and led 28-15 at the U12 media timeout. The lead grew to as many as 17 when Josiah Francis hit a layup for two of his seven points.

Manhattan slowly crept back into game, trailing by only 13 at the break, and finally taking a 69-67 lead with 7:53 remaining the second half. They were led by Will Sydnor, who scored 22 points.

This was the third-straight win for FDU over Manhattan, all coming by single-digit margins.
