LINCOLN, NE. – Through their first three games this season, FDU (1-2, 0-0) has already battled opponents from the ACC and Big East. On Wednesday night, in the middle of America, they'll add the Big Ten that list. The Knights are set to clash with Nebraska (2-0, 0-0) at Pinnacle Bank Arena. The game will tipoff at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT and air on B1G+.
FDU is coming off a 96-70 loss to no. 14 Creighton. The Knights started the game on a 10-2 run and led 26-24 at the 6:44 mark in the first half, before the sharpshooting Bluejays began to pull away. A 38-11 Creighton spurt that spanned from the first half through the opening minutes of the second period effectively put the game out of reach. FDU was out rebounded by 21 in the contest and allowed 27 points off turnovers.
Four Knights hit double-figures in the scoring column, including
Bismark Nsiah who poured in a season-high 12 points.
Dylan Jones connected on four more threes to bring his season total to 12 makes from beyond the arc. Neither Nsiah nor Jones led the Knights in scoring, though. That was
Terrence Brown who scored 19 and secured eight rebounds. That brings the sophomore guard's scoring average to 20.3 points per game this season. He has posted 18+ in all three games on the year.
Nebraska will mark another difficult test for
Jack Castleberry's squad. They bring a 2-0 record into Wednesday night, following a 63-58 win over Bethune Cookman. The Cornhuskers avoided the upset in large part to 11 points and a career-high five steals from senior Juwan Gray. Nebraska shot just 4-22 from three-point range, but did hold Bethune Cookman to 35.4% from the field. Fred Hoiberg's team also got to the line 19 more times than their opponent, which resulted in 16 more points for the home team.
Nebraska is led by senior guard Brice Williams, who is averaging 18.5 points per game this season. The versatile veteran began the season with a 27-point explosion against UTRVG.
Hoiberg is in his sixth season in charge of the Cornhuskers. He led them to a 23-11 record in 2023-24 and their first NCAA tournament appearance since 2014. He shared Big Ten Coach of the Year honors for Nebraska's resurgence. Hoiberg's grandfather, Jerry Bush, coached Nebraska from 1955-1963.
FDU and Nebraska have never met. FDU is 1-1 in their last two games against Big Ten opponents, including the historic upset over #1 Purdue in the NCAA tournament.
The Knights will return to New Jersey following their matchup with the Cornhuskers. On Sunday, Nov. 17, they'll take on Manhattan at the Bogota Savings Bank Center. Fans can catch the game on the YES Network at 2 p.m ET.
