Knights Fall to Chicago State in Four Sets

HACKENSACK, N.J.  – FDU women's volleyball dropped their second NEC match earlier today, falling to Chicago State in four sets.

The opening set was a tough battle as both teams traded points and fought through multiple lead changes. Chicago State narrowly edged out FDU, taking the set 27-25, despite strong efforts led by Eleonora Tosi and Angela Marchetto. Although the Knights struggled to find rhythm early on, energy and determination kept the Burgundy and Blue in the match until the final points.

Regrouping for the second set, defense sharpened up, limiting Chicago State's key players and capitalizing on their errors. Marchetto stepped up with three crucial kills, while serving kept the Cougars on the defensive, helping the Knights secure a 25-20 win to tie the match 1-1.

The third set was an intense showdown, with both sides refusing to give an inch. It was point-for-point as each team battled into extra points. With Kylie Nott and Marchetto leading the charge at the net, blocking forced Chicago State into critical errors. Despite the effort from the Knights, Chicago State kept composure and seized the set 28-26.

Riding the momentum, the Cougars entered the fourth set with confidence. Marchetto and Avery Bain delivered key kills, keeping the Knights in the match, and defense held strong against Chicago State's efforts. However, as the Cougars settled into a rhythm, they pulled away, winning the final set 25-20 to secure the match.

The Knights were led by Bain, who tallied 14 kills, two blocks and five digs on the match. Freshman Angela Marchetto also had a productive night, logging seven kills with no errors for a hitting clip of .583. Marchetto also totaled a team high 4.5 blocks.
