WASHINGTON, D.C – The FDU Knights fell at Howard on Sunday by a score of 3-2. The Knights now sit at 6-2-1 in conference play, while the Bison improve to 7-1-1.
FDU got on the board first in the 18
th minute.
Laura Martinez drew a foul in the box and Katia Cárdaba cashed in on the ensuing penalty kick. The sophomore's second goal of the season gave FDU a 1-0 lead.
Howard would level the match on penalty kick of their own in the 40
th minute.
The teams went into halftime tied at 1-1. FDU outshot Howard 8-3 in the first half.
FDU regained the lead in the 52
nd minute.
Kiomy Luperon buried a cross from
Marina Burzaco for her second goal of the year. Burzaco was credited with the assist and the Knights led 2-1.
Howard continued to fight and equalized the match in the 66
th minute. The bison eventually found the winner in the 87
th minute. The home team would hold on for a 3-2 victory.
FDU outshot their opponent 16-9 in the loss.
