Late Goal Sinks Knights at Howard

WASHINGTON, D.C – The FDU Knights fell at Howard on Sunday by a score of 3-2. The Knights now sit at 6-2-1 in conference play, while the Bison improve to 7-1-1.
 
FDU got on the board first in the 18th minute. Laura Martinez drew a foul in the box and Katia Cárdaba cashed in on the ensuing penalty kick. The sophomore's second goal of the season gave FDU a 1-0 lead.
 
Howard would level the match on penalty kick of their own in the 40th minute.
 
The teams went into halftime tied at 1-1. FDU outshot Howard 8-3 in the first half.
 
FDU regained the lead in the 52nd minute. Kiomy Luperon buried a cross from Marina Burzaco for her second goal of the year. Burzaco was credited with the assist and the Knights led 2-1.
 
Howard continued to fight and equalized the match in the 66th minute. The bison eventually found the winner in the 87th minute. The home team would hold on for a 3-2 victory.
 
FDU outshot their opponent 16-9 in the loss.

FDU concludes their regular season back at home on Thursday, October 31. The Knights will take on Le Moyne at 4 p.m. The match will air live on NEC Front Row.
