Knights Surge on Day Two to Capture Ebonite Hawks Soar Higher Open Championship

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Just two weeks after opening the season with a championship, women's bowling is back in the winner's circle again. This week FDU went 5-0 on day two and captured the title at the Ebonite Hawks Soar Higher Open.

FDU's overall record in New Hampshire was 7-3. Their record on the year now stands at 14-6.

Allysha Howard and Amy Chrzanowski placed second and third respectively in singles and earned spots on the all-tournament team.

On day one, FDU opened the competition with two wins over William Smith. They would drop their last three matches of the day, falling to Merrimack twice and Saint Anselm once.  The Knights knocked down 4,218 pins in the traditional total pinfall format.

Despite a slow finish to the first day, the Knights hit the ground running on day two. They put together four wins, with two coming over Saint Anselm and the others coming against Merrimack and William Smith.

In the baker match play championship, FDU met Merrimack for the fourth time of the weekend. The teams split the first four games of the best-of-seven, before Merrimack moved to the brink of a title by winning game five. The Knights posted a 213 to force a seventh game, and then bowled a 237 to win the championship. Both scores were FDU's best of the championship bout.
