BROOKVILLE, N.Y. - The FDU Knights (5-3-4, 1-1-1) took on the LIU Sharks (4-3-5,1-0-2) resulting in a 2-1 loss.
The Sharks got on the board first with an early first half goal. The Knights couldn't find an answer before the break as they closed out the half down 1-0.
Junior defender
Jeffrey Marquez scored his first career goal in the 48' to knot the game at 1-1. The assist on the goal was credited to
Dominic Valenzuela.
Despite dominating possession, the Knights could not find the go ahead goal. Conversely, LIU was oppurtunistic and tucked in the game-winning goal in the final minute.
"Our guys competed hard today in difficult circumstances," said head coach
Jaymee Highcock. "We were unlucky to not get a tie from today's game. We will reflect, react and get better for Thursday evenings game against Stonehill."
