Walks Doom FDU in Loss at Monmouth

Box Score WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J.- It was a midweek matchup that brought the Knights to West Long Branch to take on Monmouth Wednesday afternoon. The Hawks spoiled the Knights' daytrip from the very first inning, dismantling FDU for a 9-2 victory.

Walks were the primary source of offense for the Hawks as the FDU pitching staff issued 12 free passes in the game. Monmouth complemented these walks with nine base hits of their own. This led to Monmouth scratching across runs in each of the first four innings. By the time the fifth inning rolled around, FDU was in an 8-0 hole. Monmouth tacked on a final run in the bottom of the eighth.

The Knights offense was held in check for the majority of the afternoon. Monmouth pitchers scattered just five hits. The lone RBIs for FDU came off the bat of Zack Will, who produced a 2-RBI single in the ninth inning. This defeat brings the Knights' record to 26-16-1.

Hunter D'Amato's remarkable 40-game on-base streak was snapped in the loss.

Up next for FDU is a three-game set at UMES. Their penultimate NEC series kicks off Friday at 3pm. Fans can stream the game on NEC Front Row.
