JACKSONVILLE, FL - In this year's NCAA Regional Preliminary East meet at Hodges Stadium on the campus of the University of North Florida, three Knights embarked on a journey to Jacksonville, Florida to showcase their skills and compete against the top athletes of the East.
Among them was sophomore Ahmed Brown, who demonstrated his strength and technique in the shot put event on Wednesday evening. With a throw of 16.33 meters, Brown secured the 45th place.
Taeco O'Garro, a senior for the Burgundy and Blue, competed fiercely in the triple jump. With a tremendous distance of 15.64 meters, O'Garro earned 13th place in the field event just missing the opportunity to make nationals as the top-12 in each region were able to move on.
All-American Salif Mane, displayed his prowess in the long jump on Wednesday. Mane's mark of 7.34 meters earned him 26th place. As the meet progressed to Friday, Mane continued to excel, in the triple jump. Mane's impressive mark of 16.27-meters earned third place and and a qualifier to NCAA Championships. This is Mane's second year in row qualifying for the NCAA National Championship in the triple jump.
Mane moves on to NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Mike A. Myers Stadium at University of Texas in Austin on June 7th through June 10th. The triple jump competition is scheduled to take place on Friday, June 9th at 9:10PM. FDU fans can follow all of the action by tuning in to ESPN+.
