FDU Announces Hiring of Two Assistant Athletic Trainers

HACKENSACK, N.J. – FDU announced the hiring of two Assistant Athletic Trainers on Monday afternoon. Domer Gutiza and Anthony Malfitano will assume these roles effective immediately.

Gutiza, who started at FDU as a graduate assistant in January 2024, receives this promotion ahead of his third academic year in Hackensack. He is a 2020 athletic training graduate of William Patterson, where he minored in health studies and worked as an Athletic Training Student. Following his time as an undergraduate, Gutiza worked for Spectrum Physical Therapy & Athletic Training and Sportscare Physical Therapy. At Sportscare Physical Therapy, he worked directly with the Red Bulls Youth Academy. At FDU, Gutiza has served as the athletic trainer for the Knights softball and women's volleyball programs.

Malfitano holds a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from St. Thomas Aquinas College and a Master's of Science in Athletic Training at Montclair State University. His hands-on experience includes supporting physical therapists at JAG Physical Therapy, assisting athletes with rehab and training routines with the Sussex County Miners, and providing customer service and facility oversight as a front desk associate at Retro Fitness.
