Teaneck, N.J.- Today April 8th, the FDU women's lacrosse team (1-8)(1-3 NEC) faced off against Central Connecticut State University (2-8)(1-3 NEC). The game was marked by an intense back-and-forth battle, with five ties throughout the match. Despite their efforts, the Knights were unable to secure a lead against their opponents.
1st
- CCSU began the game with a strong start, scoring the first three goals of the match and taking a 3-0 lead.
- Alyssa Perez scored the first goal for the team, with an assist from Abigail McDonald.
- Saige-Lyn Gidzinksi followed with a goal of her own, bringing the Knights within one point of CCSU's lead.
- Karina Vélez-Corretjer tied the game at 3-3 with only 25 seconds left in the first quarter.
2nd
- In the second quarter, the Blue Devils scored the first two goals of the period, bringing the score to 5-3.
- Vélez-Corretjer scored her second goal of the game, assisted by Brielle McInaw, to close the gap between the two teams.
- Gidzinski scored her second goal of the game, with an assist from Natalie York, bringing the score to 5-5.
- CCSU regained the lead with only 40 seconds remaining in the period.
3rd
- In the third quarter, Riley Eaton scored her ninth goal of the season, tying the game at 6.
- CCSU scored two unanswered goals to take a two-goal lead.
- Vélez-Corretjer completed a hat trick, bringing the Knights within striking distance of their opponents.
- Perez scored her second goal of the game, tying the game once again.
- CCSU scored the final goal of the period, taking a one-goal advantage heading into the fourth quarter.
4th
- In the fourth quarter, Gidzinski completed the hat trick for herself, scoring two minutes into the quarter tying the game.
- The Blue Devils regained a two-goal advantage with two goals from Lauren Valluzzi.
- Perez completed her hat trick, bringing the Knights within one goal of the Blue Devils
- CCSU scored two quick goals to extend their lead to three goals.
- McInaw scored two back-to-back goals for the Knights, giving them hope
- The Blue Devil defense stood strong and did not let up another goal, as CCSU went on to score the final three goals of the game, resulting in a final score of 16-12.
