Hit Parade Leads the Knights to Eighth Straight Victory

NORTH EASTON, MA – The FDU Knights and Stonehill Skyhawks wrapped up a three-game set in which the Knights won all three matchups. Saturday's affair saw the Knights pile on 17 hits and complete the sweep of the Skyhawks by a score of 10-5.

how it happened

Ethan Rembish made his second start after coming back from an early season illness and did not fare well against the Skyhawks starting nine. They jumped on him for three runs in the first inning as he also walked four batters, head coach Manny Roman turned to the bullpen in just the second inning.

As Brendan Medoro entered the game in relief of Rembish the FDU bats were ignited. Joan Sosa and Tom Ruscitti cut into the deficit when they both drove in a run in the second inning to cut the Stonehill lead to 3-2. The third and fifth innings treated the Knights nicely as they put up three runs in each inning to take a commanding 8-3 lead. The offensive explosion started in the third when the FDU 7, 9, 1 batters hit for ¾ of the cycle. Luke Cantwell doubled, TJ Werner tripled, and Sosa singled to drive in three runs. The hit parade continued in the fifth when Ruscitti tripled to score George Rosales and Sosa before Brian Sanders singled home Ruscitti to extend the Burgundy and Blue lead to 8-3.

Medoro entered the game in the second and Roman was able to stick with the longman through seven innings to save the Knights bullpen after a busy day yesterday. He went six innings, two earned runs, and struck out seven Skyhawk hitters. The shutdown outing out of the 'pen helped the Flordia native pick up his fifth win of the season.

Grant Goodlad entered the game in the eighth inning to secure the final six outs and did so while only relinquishing one hit and striking out three.

FDU will be back on the road for a midweek battle against Jersey foe Saint Peter's on Wednesday. Justin Sierra is one stolen base away from breaking the Knights program record for career steals. He will be looking to become the stolen base king against the Peacocks. The game will take place at 3 p.m. at Jaroschak Field.
