Alyssa Perez Scores Five Goals as The Knights Fall to Merrimack

North Andover, Mass.-On April 22nd, the FDU women's lacrosse (1-11) (1-6 NEC) squad concluded their season's away fixtures by taking on Merrimack (4-12) (3-4 NEC). Despite falling behind early in the match, the Knights exhibited fortitude and mounted a spirited charge led by the impressive performance of Alyssa Perez, who recorded five goals. However, their efforts were ultimately insufficient as they succumbed to an 18-10 defeat.

 
How It Happened
 

1st  

  • The Warriors opened the game with the first two goals. 
  • The Knights responded with a Karina Vélez-Corretjer goal, her 11th of the season.
  • Merrimack proceeded to score the last four goals of the quarter to give them a 6-1 lead heading into the second.  

2nd  

  • Alyssa opened the scoring in the second with her first goal of the game to give the Knights some confidence.
  • The Warriors went on to score six unanswered goals to extend their lead to 10 goals. 
  • Brielle McInaw scored her 23rd goal of the season with 27 seconds remaining in the quarter making the score 12-3 heading into halftime.  

3rd  

  • Merrimack scored the first goal of the quarter to reestablish their 10-goal advantage. 
  • Perez scored back-to-back goals to complete the hattrick, her third of the season.  
  • Riley Eaton added another goal to the Knight's tally to bring FDU within seven.  
  • Merrimack scored the final goal of the quarter to make the score 14-6 heading into the fourth quarter.   

4th  

  • The Warriors opened the scoring in the quarter to extend their lead to nine. 
  • Perez scored her fourth goal of the game from an excellent Eaton assist.
  • Merrimack answered with another goal of their own.  
  • Lindsey Felician won a free position shot and capitalized on the opportunity for her 6th goal of the season.  
  • Eaton scored her second of the game and 14th of the season bringing FDU within seven.  
  • Perez scored her fifth goal of the game and 21st of the season to make it a six-goal game, forcing Merrimack to take a timeout with eight minutes remaining.
  • After the timeout, the Warrior's defense didn't let up another goal while they added two more goals to their tally bringing the final score to 18-10.

The Knights will play their final game of the season next Saturday, April 29th at home against LIU who are 4-2 in the NEC. The game will be broadcast live on NEC Front Row.
