TEANECK, NJ - The bats did not slow down in game two of the series against Delaware State (6-18, 2-8) as FDU (15-9-1, 7-4) put 23 runs on the board in a lopsided victory.
Hunter D'Amato led the way with seven RBIs while
George Rosales blasted a grand slam for his third home run on the season.
Rich Racobaldo earned the win going five innings and striking out nine.
- For the second straight game, the Knights exploded for a double-digit run first inning putting up twelve and knocking out the Delaware State starting pitcher
- Following several walks, Hunter D'Amato got things started with a two RBI single
- With two outs, TJ Werner singled to shortstop, however the Hornets could not get the force out at second allowing the inning to continue
- Rosales stepped to plate after a bases loaded walk, and brought everyone home to open the 9-0 lead
- D'Amato then picked up another RBI with a single drawing in Tom Ruscitti
- Finally, a Justin Sierra fly ball was misplayed in right field allowing two more runners to cross home plate
- Rich Racobaldo got the start for the Knights in Saturday's contest
- He finished five innings, giving up only two runs and striking out a season-high nine batters
- The only two runs he surrendered was in the 2nd inning when Evan Bouldin blasted a two-run home run
- The outing was good enough for Racobaldo to move to 3-1 on the season
- The Knights picked up eleven runs between the 3rd and 7th inning against the Hornets
- D'Amato blasted a two-run home run in the 3rd inning and a two RBI single in the 5th to give him 7 RBI's on the day
- The scoring barage was added to when Ruscitti and Nicholas Mazzotta both blasted home runs to extend the FDU lead to 23-5
- The Knights bullpen shutdown the Hornets bats allowing only three unearned runs
- Patrick Gardner pitched two innings giving up three unearned runs due to an error that extended the inning
- Nicholas Feretic closed out the game with a scoreless 8th and 9th inning while striking out four batters
- FDU hosts DSU for one more game on Sunday afternoon to wrap up their three game set. The game will take place at 1 p.m. and fans can watch on NEC Front Row.
