TEANECK, NJ. - FDU (14-9-1, 6-4)Â exploded for 26 runs in the series opening win against Delaware State (6-17, 2-8) at Naimoli Family Baseball Complex. The Hornets allowed three walks and a hit-by-pitch in the first inning, helping propel the Burgundy and Blue to 10-run inning. The lead would continue to grow for FDU in large part by long ball, with
Justin Sierra belting a 3-run home run to left center field in the 3rd inning. Then it was
Brian Sanders with a home run of his own in the fourth inning, providing plenty of cushion for starting pitcher
Jude Baxt.

- Delaware State opened the scoring on the day scoring two runs in the opening frame. Baxt would force the Hornets into a double play to end the inning.
- FDU responded quickly with seven hits in the bottom half of the first leading to 10 runs
- The Knights used discipline at the plate forcing three walks with the bases loaded
- A TJ Werner single through the left side drove in two to make it 6-2
- Three hits in a row by George Rosales, Tom Ruscitti, and Sanders broke the game open to 10-2
- In the bottom of the third, Sierra blasted a 3-run home run giving the Knights a 15-2 lead. Then in the fourth inning it was Sanders' turn to hit one out, bringing the score to 18-2
- Baxt went six innings, earning the win and bringing his record to 3-0 on the year. Lucas Prokosch made his collegiate debut in replacing Baxt in the seventh. Prokosch who has battled injuries for two years, was able to record his first strike out.
- The final few innings saw multiple substitutions at the plate. Maximus D'Alessandro hit his first collegiate home run with a line drive beyond the right field fence in the eighth inning.
Saturday's game against Delaware State is now at 2PM.
