LORETTO, P.A.- FDU was swept by Saint Francis U (Pa.) for the second time in 2023 on Friday night. The loss brings the Knights record to 4-9 (1-5) on the year.
Jamal Ellis Carballo continued his strong conference-play campaign. He totaled 17 kills on a .314 hitting percentage. His performance was complemented by
Jack Lydon's 11 kill night. No other player on the Knights had more than four kills.
Although FDU hung around in the initial stages of the first set, SFU took a 10-9 lead and never looked back. They held onto that lead the rest of the way and won the first set, 25-21.
In the second set FDU jumped out to a 15-10 lead. However, the media timeout came at the perfect time for the Red Flash. They ripped off the next five points to tie the set. The Knights did not lay down though. After a timeout, they won four straight points to take a 19-15 lead. However, the Red Flash ended the set on a 11-5 run to end the set.
The third set was back-and-forth, but FDU never found the momentum needed to spark a comeback. The Red Flash closed out the third, 25-20.
