Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

FDU Falters on the Road Against Iona

New Rochelle, N.Y. - In the inaugural away game of the program's history, the Knights women's lacrosse team (0-2) was defeated by Iona (3-1). FDU struggled to gain its footing offensively and was not able to overcome an early deficit. 

First Quarter 
  • Iona managed to score five goals.
  • Freshman goalie, Skylar Goodman, made an impressive four saves.

Second Quarter 
  • The Knights' Saige-Lyn Gidzinski opened the scoring for the Burgundy and Blue with a goal two minutes and twelve seconds into the second quarter, marking her third goal of the season and bringing the score to 6-1.
  • Alyssa Perez followed suit with a goal of her own, assisted by Gidzinski, thereby reducing the Iona lead two minutes later.  

  • With just under three minutes remaining in the half, Brielle McInaw scored her third goal of the season after evading her defender. 

  • Iona would respond with 35 seconds remaining in the half adding a goal to push the lead to 10-3. 

Third Quarter 
  • After the Gaels opened the scoring in the quarter, Brielle added another goal to her tally from a free position.
  • Perez also secured her second goal of the game, four minutes later, with an impressive spinning move past the defender and a bouncing shot that left the goalie helpless, bringing the score to 12-5.  

  • With just five minutes left in the third quarter, Natalie York recorded her first collegiate goal with a confidently taken free position shot, reducing the Iona lead to six. 

  • Iona did not hold back ending the quarter with four goals in the last four minutes.

Fourth Quarter 
  • Iona scored the final four goals of the game.

Looking ahead, the Knights will travel to Burlington, Vermont to face off against Vermont on Sunday, February 26th at 12 pm. The game will be streamed on America East TV.
