HACKENSACK, N.J. - The FDU Knights earned a 78-52 victory over their conference rival Wagner Seahawks. Saturday's dominant performance came on Senior Day as the Knights honored four senior players and two other valued members of their program.
Â
The two teams battled back and forth in the first half with FDU holding onto a slim seven-point, 31-24, lead at halftime. The Knights shot 35% in the first half and held the Seahawks to only 30% shooting. The Knights's defense was stellar once again by holding Wagner to only 52 points and 33/15/61% shooting splits. The third quarter was an explosion by FDU who outscored Wagner 25-12 and shot 50% from the field. The dominance was led by senior forward
Sierra DeAngelo.
DeAngelo had a career night on senior day, dropping 30 points and nine rebounds on extremely efficient shooting from the floor. The Pittsburgh, Pa. native shot a near-perfect 11-for-14 from the field, 3-of-4 from beyond the arc, and 5-of-6 from the charity stripe. DeAngelo blew past her previous career best of 23 points which she set earlier in the season against Maryland Eastern Shore.
The Knights also got double-digit efforts out of
Chloe Wilson and
Dahomée Forgues. Wilson picked up her sixth double-double on the season with 18 points and 13 rebounds, while Forgues had 12 points, six rebounds, and three assists.
Spaniard guard
Celia Carbonell drilled two three-pointers in today's contest to extend her consecutive games with a made three-pointer streak to 14 and to capture sole possession of 10th All-Time in program history for made three-pointers.Â
Â
- The Knights will play host to Saint Francis Pa. on Thursday, February 23 at Stratis Arena inside the Rothman Center. FDU fans can watch the game on NEC Front Row.Â
