Knights' Comeback Falls Short at Army

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Knights traveled to West Point, New York to face Army where they fell in a back-and-forth battle that resulted in a 71-63 Army win. With today's contest FDU drops to 0-2, while Army improves to 1-2. 

NOTABLE NAMES 

  • Abby Conklin dropped 16 points as she connected on four of eight attempts from deep, while collecting three rebounds in the process.  
  • Teneisia Brown racked up 16 points as she went 8-for-11 in the paint and totaled 5 rebounds. 
  • Lilly Parke put up 15 points on 7-11 shooting and contributed 3 rebounds.  

FIRST QUARTER 

  • After Army jumped out to an 11-3 lead, the Knights responded with back-to-back threes from Abaigeal Babore and Conklin to cut the deficit to two.  
  • The Knights held Army to just three points throughout the remainder of the quarter and Parke closed out the frame with a bucket that brought the Knights within one at 14-13.  

SECOND QUARTER  

  • Starting the 2nd quarter, Conklin sank two shots from beyond the arc that gave FDU a 19-18 lead. 
  • Brown and Parke stitched together two buckets in the paint pushing the Knights ahead 23-20.  
  • Army stormed back ahead to a three-point lead but a Conklin buzzer-beater from downtown knotted the game at 32-32.  

THIRD QUARTER 

  • Army was hyper-efficient out of the halftime break as they shot 11-17 from the field in the third frame.  
  • FDU did not hit a three in the first 10 minutes of the second half.  
  • The Black Knights closed out the quarter on an 18-6 run that put them ahead 57-44.  

FOURTH QUARTER  

  • Army added onto their run and made it a 30-11 spurt to give them a commanding 66-49 lead early in the fourth quarter.  
  • FDU responded with 12 unanswered points, capped off by a pair of Nicki Carter free throws that cut the lead to 66-61.  
  • The Black Knights connected on free throws down the stretch to cement the 71-63 win.

The Knights will travel to Bucknell on Wednesday. The game is set for an 11 a.m. tip-off and will be streamed on ESPN+.
