EASTON, MASS. - The Knights traveled to Massachusetts to take on the Stonehill Skyhawks on Sunday afternoon.
The first half started out in disastrous fashion when Stonehill notched a goal in the 5' minute. Jacob Woznicki placed a shot past Knights goalie Spencer King to earn the early lead.
The Knights responded quickly when first year student athlete Mario Ibeas received a pass from Edoardo Calzola in the slot and blasted it past the Skyhawks goalie to level the match in the 17' minute.
Both teams garnered chances in the final 28 minutes of the first half, but neither could put one in the back of the net and the teams stayed tied 1-1 heading into the final 45 minutes of play,
FDU wasted no time to take the lead in the second half. Just six minutes in Tony Gomez blasted a free kick from just outside the "18" to give the Knights the lead.
Only five minutes later Gomez picked up his second goal of the game and fifth of the season. Jay Hamdaoua placed a cross into the box that Gomez was able to dive and connect with a header into the back of the net to give the Knights a 3-1 advantage.
Knights freshman Ibeas was not satisfied with just one goal on the day. He was able to beat the Skyhawks backline into the box and place a Hamdaoua cross into the back of the net to extend the FDU lead.
Hamdaoua who already had two assists on the day got in on the goal scoring action when he was able to beat the Stonehill goalie from just outside the "18" for the Knights fifth goal of the game.
The Knights will be back in action on Thursday November 2 as they play host to the LIU Sharks for senior night. The match will take place at 7 p.m. and fans will have the opportunity to watch on NEC Front Row or follow the coverage on social media @FDUKnightsMSOC.
