PHILADELPHIA, PA. - The Knights traveled to the City of Brotherly Love for an end of the year midweek tune up versus the Drexel Dragons. The Dragons entered the match with an 8-2-4 record, including an impressive 5-0-1 at Vidas Field.
FDU struggled out of the gate to generate possession. The first 45 minutes were dominated by the Dragons who scored in the 8' and 11' minutes. The first goal came off of a free kick where Patrick Short placed a header into the top right of the goal past the Knights goalie. Short was not done there as he scored his second goal only three minutes when Spencer King could not corral the rebound after making a diving save.
The Knights first chance came in the 33' minute when Mario Ibeas placed a shot on net from the slot that was saved by Drexel goalie Alessandro Capogna.
The Ibeas attempt was the only shot on goal for FDU in the first half in comparison to the four placed on goal for the Dragons.
The second half saw the Dragons pick up right where they left off. Just five minutes in Isaiah Whittaker-Francis struck a goal from well outside the box to extend the Drexel lead to 3-0.
The second half rampage by the Dragons did not stop there; they scored in the 64', 76', and 88' minutes to defeat the Knights
The Knights will be back in action on Sunday October 29 as they travel to North Easton, Mass. to take on the Stonehill Skyhawks. The match will take place at 1 p.m. and fans will have the opportunity to watch on NEC Front Row or follow the coverage on social media @FDUKnightsMSOC.
