NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - FDU met Central Connecticut on Sunday afternoon and the two clubs battled to a 1-1 draw. The Knights' record now sits at 6-2-5, 3-0-3. It is the 16
th straight NEC match in which FDU has came away with a draw or win.
The Knights out-shot CCSU 7-5. FDU put two of these shots on frame, while the Blue Devils were able to produce one shot on target.
The first scoring opportunity of the game came courtesy of FDU. In the 6
th minute,
Jayd Hamdaoua received a pass from
Tony Gomez and proceeded to fire a rocket on target. The CCSU goalkeeper dove to his left and made the acrobatic save, which kept FDU off the board.
CCSU was able to sustain some offensive pressure early on. In the 12
th minute, the Blue Devils actually put the ball in the back of the net, but the play was ruled offside.
In the 40
th minute,
Mario Ibeas beat the CCSU keeper for his first-career goal to give FDU a 1-0 lead.
This lead only held up for 94 seconds, as CCSU responded immediately. They equalized the match and teams went into the halftime break level at 1-1.
Neither team generated too many scoring opportunities in the final 45-minutes and the match finished tied at 1-1.
FDU now has earned 12 points in NEC play with just two conference games remaining.

FDU will make another trip to Pennsylvania and the "City of Brotherly Love" for a matchup with Drexel on Wednesday. The game will kick off at 5 p.m. and will be available to watch on FloFC.
