BROOKLYN, N.Y. - FDU men's basketball (8-8, 1-0 NEC) continues the Northeast Conference slate of games with the season series opener with St. Francis Brooklyn (6-7, 0-1 NEC) on Thursday, January 5 at 1 p.m. Airing live on NEC Front Row, the matchup will take place at The ARC as the venue is temporarily serving as the Terriers' home court.
Having lost each of the last five against the Terriers,
Tobin Anderson's Knights look to flip the script as the Burgundy and Blue have emerged victorious in three of their last five bouts, including the Burgundy and Blue's NEC opener against Merrimack on December 29, the first-ever win for the Knights against the Warriors. Behind a strong backcourt led by graduate students
Demetre Roberts and
Grant Singleton, FDU's offense leads the nine-team NEC in overall games with 1,246 points, averaging 77.9 points per game in 16 contests.
The second leading scorer in the NEC's 42nd season (conference games only), sophomore forward
Ansley Almonor has quietly climbed the scoring charts for FDU averaging just shy of 15 points a night. Back on the Hackensack for his second campaign, Almonor is the only player in the NEC's top five in scoring to earn a spot in the rankings based off of just one contest with the Spring Valley, N.Y. native scoring 25 in the conference opener. Following his dominate performances against Merrimack and Centenary to close-out 2022, Almonor was named the NJHoops.com New Jersey Division I College Player of the Week, the second Knight to earn the nod this season alongside Roberts.
Back home on the Hackensack for three of their next five after taking on St. Francis Brooklyn, FDU welcomes LIU to Stratis Arena inside the Rothman Center on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 1 p.m. live on NEC Front Row. Tickets are on-sale now at
