Singleton Crowned NEC Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. - FDU men's basketball graduate student Grant Singleton made history Monday as the first Knights men's basketball player named Northeast Conference Player of the Week three times in a season since Chad Timberlake reached the mark in 2006.

The first-year Knight averaged 20.5 points per game as FDU went 2-0 in NEC play to grow their first place lead in the nine-team conference. Singleton matched his five-year career-high with 27 points in FDU's first-ever win at Merrimack on Saturday in a 78-71 victory over the Warriors to secure FDU's first series sweep in NEC play since 2021.

Leading the Burgundy and Blue in nearly every offensive category over his 72 minutes of work, the guard from Sumter, S.C. shot 62.5 percent from the field (15-for-24) including 10 made field goals at Merrimack in 14 tries, good for a mark of 71.4 percent.

Singleton heated-up from behind the arc when the Knights needed him most as the team battled back from a 10-point deficit at halftime of the bout against the Warriors, rattling home five triples in the game's final 15 minutes. His 10 field goals in North Andover matched two-time teammate Demetre Roberts' team-best for most in a game which occurred earlier in league play against Sacred Heart (1/20).

The best free throw shooter in the conference, Singleton is quickly climbing up the rankings as he sits fifth in scoring (16.4 p.p.g.), sixth in field goal percentage (51.0 percent), fourth in assists (3.67 a.p.g.) and first in made three-point goals (3.11 per game).

FDU now enjoys a one-game lead over Stonehill in the NEC standings at 7-2 in league play, entering a one-game week which sees the Knights welcome in Wagner for the first of two meetings this season on Saturday, February 4 at 1 p.m. at Stratis Arena inside the Rothman Center live on NEC Front Row.

Joining Singleton in receiving recognition from the NEC are Roberts and junior Joe Munden Jr. who were each named NEC Prime Performers.
