Knights Take Down American International to Win Third Straight

HACKENSACK, N.J.- The FDU men's volleyball team defeated American International on a second consecutive night Saturday in Stratis Arena. The win improved the Knights record to 3-0 and proved to be their second straight set victory of the season.
 
How it Happened

In their first official set at home this year, the Knights jumped out to a 4-0 lead. This forced American International into an early timeout. The Yellow Jackets won eight of the next 15 points to steady the ship out of the break. However, it was an 8-2 run by the Knights that gave them a commanding 19-10 lead. They would close out the set 25-18.

The second set would end up being much closer. With the score tied at 19 apiece, FDU surged ahead with a 6-1 run that put away the set 25-19. Artem Vetrov and Jamal Ellis Carballo carried the Knights through the set combining for seven kills.

In what would be the decisive set, the Yellow Jackets put the Knights into an 11-9 hole. FDU responded with a push that tied the set at 13. The match concluded with the Knights utilizing a 12-5 spurt, which ended the set 25-18. Jack Lydon tallied three of his seven kills in the final set.

Artem Vetrov and Jack Lydon led the team with seven kills apiece, while Santiago La Jara and Grady Hoffman paced the defense with seven digs each.
