PROVO, U.T.- The FDU men's volleyball team fell by a score of three to none on Friday night in their first of two matchups against BYU in Provo this weekend.
Â
The Knights withstood an early BYU burst in the first set and eventually drew the score to 10-15 at the first media timeout. Despite a feverish BYU attack, the Knights did not go away without a fight. FDU fought off two set points before the Cougars put away the set 25-20.
The Knights continued their fight in the second set.
Artem Vetrov and
Naveen Fernando put constant pressure on BYU, which was good enough to earn an 11-11 tie through the first 22 points of the set. However, BYU proved to be too much for the Knights as they won 14 of the last 20 points to take the set 25-17.
FDU jumped out to a 9-8 lead in the third set. The BYU block and attack had an answer though, as they quickly reclaimed the lead. Eventually, the Cougars were able to close out the set and match as they completed a 25-15 victory in the third set.Â

The Knights will try to bounce back when they take on BYU tomorrow night at 9 PM ET on BYUTV.
