TEANECK, N.J. - FDU baseball head coach Manny Roman announced the return of Ethan Newton to the program's staff Tuesday evening as the Knights' assistant coach. Newton served on former skipper Rob DiToma's staff for his first two seasons on the Hackensack.

"Bringing Ethan back on staff was a no-brainer," said Roman. "His knowledge of the game, energy and familiarity with our program will help us keep building on the success we had this past year. I'm excited to work alongside Ethan, seeing him work with our guys and begin recruiting for us."

Beginning his coaching career at Allegany College of Maryland (NJCAA - MD JUCO) where he was previously a student-athlete, Newton served as the Associate Head Coach for two seasons before moving to Hartford (NCAA Division I - Independent). In his first year back at Allegany as a coach, Newton oversaw the development of NJCAA All-American Dan Fry in 2017. While he was with the Hawks, Hartford's baseball team won the 2018 America East Championship, the first title in program history. Newton was responsible for infield development and assisted with on-campus recruiting during his time in Connecticut.

Following his two-year stint with the Hawks, Newton arrived in Teaneck, primarily aiding the development of FDU's hitters and outfielders and preparing scouting reports for student-athletes and members of the coaching staff.

After leaving FDU in June 2021, Newton was named Director of Hitting at Rockland Peak Performance where he created and carried out periodized development plans for individual athletes, leveraged information from various forms of technology, as well strength and mobility assessments, to determine the necessary movement focus for each hitter, helping their in-game approach.

"I can't even explain how excited I am to rejoin the FDU baseball program," remarked Newton. "The relationships I developed with the players here are special to me; and I'm incredibly grateful to coach Manny [Roman] for the opportunity to come back and continue moving this program in the right direction."

A 2012 graduate of Ohio (NCAA Division I - MAC) with a Bachelor of Arts in English, Newton was voted by his teammates as captain his senior year and was a Second Team All-MAC selection in 2011. While playing at Allegany, Newton's Trojans advanced to the 2009 NJCAA Division II World Series where the club finished sixth in the nation. He later earned a Post-Baccalaureate in K-12 Education at Old Dominion in 2015 and a Master's in Communications from Moorehead State in 2018.
