Box Score NORTH ANDOVER. MA. - The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team (20-25, 12-8 NEC) suffered an 11-3 setback in game two of its three-game series at Merrimack (14-26-1, 9-11 NEC).
How it happened
- The Warriors opened the scoring with two home runs and an RBI single in the first inning, taking the lead 4-0.
- After four scoreless innings, Merrimack extended its lead to 6-0 in the bottom of the fifth.
- Joan Sosa scored the first run for the Knights in the top of the sixth after Matthew Puello reached on a fielder's choice.
- Merrimack hit a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth and scored one more run in the seventh.
- In the eighth inning, the Warriors blasted a home run and registered a 2-RBI single to make the score 11-1.
- Tom Ruscitti hit his 35th career home run in the top of the ninth. He sits in second in the FDU baseball record book with only two homers away from breaking Tom Gattoni's record at 36.
- The Knights finished the game with three runs and nine safe hits.
Inside the box
- Rich Racobaldo (2-5) took the loss, allowing seven runs and striking out seven in six innings.
- Ruscitti went 2-4 with two RBIs, one run, a home run, and a walk.
- Sosa finished 3-4 with a run and a walk.
- Puello went 1-4 with one RBI.
