BROOKVILLE, N.Y. - The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team (21-27, 13-10 NEC) secured a 5-2 win over LIU (30-17, 15-8 NEC) in a 10-inning game on Saturday afternoon.
How it happened
- David Bordieri Jr. scored the first run for the Knights in the top of the fifth on an RBI single through the left side by Justin Sierra.
- Ethan Rembish held the Sharks hitless through five innings.
- LIU hit a solo home run to tie the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the seventh.
- After a scoreless eighth inning, Nick Evangelista retired the next three batters on two flyouts to center and a pop-up to shortstop to get out of the ninth without allowing a run.
- Joan Sosa registered a 3-RBI triple to right-center, helping the Knights retake the lead in the 10th inning. Luke Cantwell reached on an error by the first baseman, allowing Sosa to score.
- The Sharks hit a solo home run in the bottom half of the 10th, but it was not enough to catch up to FDU, making the final score 5-2.
Inside the box
- Evangelista picked up the win (2-2), going 5.0 innings and striking out three batters.
- Sosa went 2-5 with three RBIs and a triple.
- Sierra went 1-3 with one RBI and a walk.
- TJ Werner finished 2-5.
