TEANECK, N.J. - Fairleigh Dickinson women's tennis (6-6, 2-1 NEC) celebrated Senior Day with a 4-3 home victory against Sacred Heart (11-11, 5-2 NEC) on Tuesday afternoon at the FDU Tennis Courts.   

The Knights recognized their four seniors, Aleksandra Vorozheikina, Smriti Singh, Marta Bettinelli, and Aishwarya Gandotra, prior to the opening serve of their penultimate season match. The Knights conquered the doubles point and won three singles matches to rally past Sacred Heart.   

FDU started off strong in doubles competition. In the No. 1 spot, junior Alena Kubanova and freshman Namie Isago won their match, 6-2. Battling for the win against the Pioneers on court three were juniors Amina Lasheen and Shreya Gulia, 6-3. In the No. 2 spot, graduate student Bettinelli and senior Vorozheikina fell short, 2-6.

Lasheen began strong in the No. 4 spot to start singles play, sweeping Aina Garriga, 6-1, 6-1. Gulia competed in the No. 1 spot against SHU's Katsia Starastsenka, falling short 4-6, 4-6. Kubanova followed in the No. 2 spot with a 7-6 (7), 7-6(5) win. Vorozheikina had a hard-fought three-set match dropping it to Vitalina Golod, 4-6, 6-3, 4-6. At the No. 5 spot, Isago clinched the match in a three-set contest with the Pioneers' Flavia, 4-6, 6-1, 7-5. Singh completed her three-set battle but fell short to Olivia 6-7(5), 7-5, 1-6. 

Next up 
The Knights will now travel to Old Westbury, N.Y., to face LIU on Friday, April 8 at the LIU Tennis Center. The starting time has not been determined.
